Es el constituyente t\u00edpico de los aceros templados. Se podr\u00eda decir que es una soluci\u00f3n s\u00f3lida sobresaturada de carbono o carburo de hierro en el\u00a0<\/span>HIERRO ALFA, y se obtiene por enfriamiento r\u00e1pido de los aceros desde alta temperatura.<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de los carburos (de los aceros aleados) y el carburo de hierro o\u00a0CEMENTITA, es el constituyente m\u00e1s duro de los aceros.<\/p>\n

Presenta un aspecto acicular en forma de agujas en zigzag con \u00e1ngulos de 60\u00ba.<\/p>\n

Su contenido en carbono puede variar desde porcentajes muy peque\u00f1os hasta 1% de Carbono, y algunas veces en aceros hipereutectoides (aceros con mas del 0.77% de carbono), aun suele se m\u00e1s elevado.<\/p>\n

Sus propiedades mec\u00e1nicas var\u00edan en funci\u00f3n de su composici\u00f3n, aumentando resistencia mec\u00e1nica, dureza y fragilidad con el contenido de carbono.<\/p>\n
